Sr. Tax Associate
Alex Cruz represents individuals and their businesses with respect to local and federal tax laws.
Alex Cruz earned a B.S. in Finance from Florida State University in 2011, a J.D. from Florida State University College of Law in 2014 and an LL.M. in Taxation, with distinction, from Loyola Law School in 2015.
Following graduation from law school, Alex began working in the real estate group at PricewaterhouseCoopers (“PwC”) where he provided tax compliance and consulting services to corporate and private equity real estate owners, developers and investors regarding ongoing operations and transactions. Services on such transactions included performing buy- and sell-side due diligence, internal restructurings, and preparation of operation and disposition models, forward- and reverse-like-kind exchanges.
Alex then joined the mergers and acquisitions team at PwC where he continued to perform buy-side due diligence services, as well as draft opinions on tax-efficient structuring solutions for business transactions (e.g., asset and entity acquisitions, debt-restructuring, worthless stock deductions, and corporate reorganizations) and prepare models calculating tax attribute carryover limitations in both corporate and partnership contexts.
Prior to joining EPGD, he worked on the mergers and acquisitions team Ernst & Young. There he performed buy-side due diligence, drafted structuring reports, tax opinions and models detailing tax implications of client transactions.
