It’s that time again for our bi-monthly NEWSIES™! Today, we interviewed a good friend of the firm, Danny Nieves of Local Door Coupons! We’re so excited for you to read his in-depth and personal responses that make reading his interview significantly worthwhile.
So, without further ado, here’s a little about Danny!
I was born and raised in Miami, FL where I’ve spent most my adult career pursuing new business ideas. As an entrepreneur, I’ve always preferred the risks typically associated with innovation rather, than pursuing more stable but monotonous endeavors. It was out of the drive to meet challenges with creative and effective solutions that helped me launch the start of two businesses, locally, and eventually drive the expansion of their services across the nation. Today, I am the CEO of Local Door Coupons, a local marketing service that I have grown to cover 51 locations across the United States. I also am the CEO and managing partner in Brush Squad, a paint service franchise with locations in Florida, Boston, and California. Recently, I added Pillar to Post, a home Inspection service franchise, to my portfolio.
Here’s what Danny had to say to our fun questions!
1 What would the movie title of your life be?
I’m big on following your dreams and paving your own way despite the risk. So, I’m thinking it would be 50/50: The Odds Don’t Matter
2 What is the strangest talent you have?
I can identify whiskey on smell alone.
3 What is the most annoying question people ask you?
“Why don’t you just play it safe?” My career’s been based on risks. In looking back, some of the mistakes I’ve made taught me an important lesson. Those lessons helped me refined my ideas and the way I approach them. In the short term, problems might have presented a loss, but in the long term, it’s paid off.
4 Name two things you consider yourself to be very good at.
Problem solving and marketing. I’ve been fortunate enough to be placed in various circumstances and worked with a wide array of individuals. I think I’ve gotten better at identifying what people like and what they don’t like.
5 What do you think you will be doing 20 years from now?
Probably starting another business.
6 What would you do with your “15 minutes” of fame?
Probably promote my businesses and give a platform to the business partners and franchise networks who have helped build the Local Door Coupons and Brush Squad brands.
7 Have you ever won anything? What was it?
Accolades don’t matter much to me – results matter. But, in the last year, I would say is the recognition I’ve received from Forbes.com, Entreprenuer.com, and Inc.com for the milestones Local Door Coupons has reached in its short time as a franchise system.
8 Who would you choose to be your mentor, if you had the choice?
I don’t feel I can pinpoint one person as a mentor. I’ve always had this drive to be successful and to build something that is both profitable, and sustainable. I’m lucky because I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside many people that have offered advice or inspiration.
9 What’s a fear you’re proud to have overcome?
Failure. Running a business where you’re responsible for so many people’s livelihoods can be a lot to handle. But, failure is a matter of perspective. Sometimes, those mistakes that seem crippling are opportunities to improve and capitalize on.
