As a litigation associate, Jesse Young handles a wide array of business disputes in all stages of litigation. Whether you are Plaintiff or Defendant, a small business or large corporation, Jesse takes satisfaction in providing stellar representation to all his clients.
Prior to joining EPGD Law, Jesse worked as an assistant public defender at the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office for 3 years. During his tenure there, he gained invaluable experience as a litigator and a passion for zealous courtroom advocacy. He represented hundreds of persons accused of crimes ranging from juvenile matters to felonies, at all stages of the criminal justice system. He honed his skills as a litigator by trying dozens of bench and jury trials, litigating procedural and substantive motions daily, and hands-on investigation of his cases.
After leaving the Public Defender’s Office, Jesse took his talents to the civil realm where he worked as a trial attorney for a national insurance corporation. While working there, Jesse learned the civil and business side of the law by representing the insurance corporation in hundreds of suits filed against the company. Jesse’s extensive courtroom experience ensures that his clients have a seasoned litigator in their corner who is ready and willing to fight on their behalf.
Jesse always knew he wanted to be a lawyer and set his sights on that goal very early in life. During high school he played soccer and participated on the high school mock trial team. He tried his first mock jury trial at the age of 16. After graduating, he moved from his small hometown to attend Northern Kentucky University. During college he simultaneously worked a part time job, interned at various law firms, and was a member of the BDB philanthropy club as well as the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law fraternity. As a member of Phi Alpha Delta, he joined their mock trial team where he was chosen to compete in a national mock trial competition in Washington D.C. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a minor in pre-law.
Jesse then received a merit scholarship to attend St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami, Florida. While in law school Jesse received many accolades such as the pro bono commendation, book award in Florida Constitutional Law and Legal Writing, and the best student award in Legal Writing. He was also an active member of the St. Thomas Trial team where he competed in various mock trial competitions.
On a personal note: Jesse enjoys spending time with his nieces and nephews, snowboarding, and relaxing at the beach.
