He was born in Cuba, but spent most of his upbringing in Miami, FL. Prior to obtaining his Juris Doctorate, Yolday studied Criminology, Criminal Justice, & Political Science, graduating summa cum laude from Florida State University. He then went on to Florida International University College of Law.
During his time at law school, Mr. Diaz Barreto was a Sealing and Expunging Volunteer with the State Attorney’s Office. He also competed in the Saul Lefkowitz’s Intellectual Property Moot Court Competition and was a member of the Hispanic Law Students Association, all while remaining on the Dean’s List for several semesters.
Yolday worked as a legal intern for the FIU College of Law Immigrant Children’s Justice Clinic in Miami, Florida. Prior to joining EPGD’s litigation team, Mr. Diaz Barreto worked as an associate attorney for a business law firm for over 7 years where he honed in on his skills in both business transaction and litigation. Mr. Diaz Barreto, represented clients from the concept of a business idea to making sure their rights were protected in court. Mr. Diaz Barreto, then opened up his own business transaction law firm, but realized he missed litigation too much and made his way back to it at EPGD.
Yolday is fluent in Spanish and is a member in good standing with the Florida Bar.
In his free time, Yolday loves to travel and be outdoors, spend time with friends, and try new restaurants. He considers himself a “foodie”! He also likes to volunteer at Feed South Florida whenever time permits.
Mr. Diaz Barreto’s personal motto is, “Strive for what you think is right, despite the surrounding chatter”.
