EPGD Law Shining Start: Igor Hernandez, Esq.

an Attorney EPGD

Ladies and gentlemen, we’re back with another NEWSIES™ Shining Star Highlight! Recently, we had the pleasure of interviewing a fellow attorney in the community, Igor Hernandez, Esq. of CORNISH HERNANDEZ GONZALEZ, PLLC.

Let’s start off with a little bit about his background before jumping into the fun interview questions.
About Igor;

“I’m a native of Cuba. Growing up in a communist country I saw a lot of injustice. Those daily injustices would be something that would stay with me for the rest of my life. When I was thirteen years old I had an opportunity to come to the United States with my family and pursue an education. It was then that I realized that injustice does not only exist in communist regimes. Since I was old enough to think I vowed to fight injustice wherever it may exist.

After getting my law degree I went to work for Miami Dade County’s Public Defender’s office. While there I handled hundreds of cases and won everything from a misdemeanor to murder charges in front of juries. It was there that I learned that there is no more powerful weapon against injustice than a skilled trial lawyer and a fair-minded jury.”

If that’s not interesting enough, check out the answers to some of our questions below!

1. What, or who, are you a “closet” fan of?
Alejandro Sanz

2. What is the nerdiest thing you do in your spare time?
Computer Programming

3. What is the most annoying question that people ask you?
Are you going to eat that?

4. Name two things you consider yourself to be very good at.
Trying cases to juries and reading people.

5.What’s a favorite family memory that has stuck with you into your adult life? Why?
Playing chess with my dad. He worked a lot so we didn’t get to spend a lot of time together otherwise.

6. What would you do with your “15 minutes” of fame?
Promote rights restoration for ex-felons and the importance of the jury system.

7. Have you ever won anything? What was it?
I win all kinds of raffles/prizes at games of chance. Last thing I won was $300 playing roulette a couple of years ago.

8. Who would you choose to be your mentor, if you had the choice?
The man, the legend, H.T. Smith!

9. What’s your most significant current challenge?
My trial schedule. I have six-seven trials between now and Nov 15th that need to go to a jury.

Considering his trial schedule is beyond hectic, we are very happy to have had the opportunity to interview Igor. If you would like to get in contact with Igor directly, he may be reached at ihernandez@chglawyers.com.
